Paintings are fundamentally different to rebuses. It is not a matter of finding the key which unlocks the secret. There is no code which has to be decifered. Abstract art is the artistic expressive form which best manages to remove itself from the limitations of form, the prescribed filling-in of space and the tyranny of time. It shows us the giddy abyss from which every concrete manifestation appears and disappears.
